The Main Objective
The Association is established for charitable purposes only, to advance education of the present pupils of the Methodist Girls’ High School in Sierra Leone by provision of teaching aids, laboratory and recreational equipment and the award of scholarships.
The Methodist Girls’ High School Association (UK Branch) was established in 1979 by a group of former students of the Methodist Girls’ High School (MGHS) residing in the United Kingdom. These former students recognised the need for substantial financial and material support to their alma mater, and were prepared to make the necessary sacrifices to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the School in Sierra Leone.
Since its formation, MGHS OGA has undertaken several fund-raising ventures. In recent years, the Association has collaborated in many endeavours with other MGHS alumni associations in the United States of America and Sierra Leone. The funds raised by the Association have been used towards various forms of developmental assistance to the School. Such assistance includes: awarding scholarships to deserving needy students; providing large consignments of science laboratory supplies, equipment, Table and chairs, other tools and material to enhance both teaching and learning.
Our Branch meeting is usually held in London every 3rd Saturday of the month. The venue is Lambeth Mission, 2-3 Lambeth Road, London SE1 7DQ
